Vastly underrated, Alien 3 is a hybrid of psychological thriller, character study, sci-fi and horror. Sadly, only Ripley survives the crash of her escape pod onto a penal planet. How Ripley deals with a place filled with only violent male prisoners for the most part, as well another murderous Alien, and the ever despicable Weyland-Yutani Corporation, is awesomely interesting. The scenes with Bishop are touching as are many, in the midst of mayhem. This movie brings back the claustrophobic feeling of the first. Ripley faces much loss and her hardest choices yet.
